Two hours: fifty three minutes: and fifty eight seconds, that's the time it took for me to complete the half marathon today. For some people it wouldn't be anything to brag about and for others it would be a major accomplishment. I fall somewhere in between, and I'm satisfied with my results.
I finished the race feeling tired but not totally wiped out although I did take an unplanned two hour nap this afternoon though. I'm not feeling any major soreness, (at least not yet) and the only things that really hurt were the balls of my tootsies. My next half marathon is in exactly two months, then there's the Disney Marathon in January 2009. My plan is to start training for the marathon at the end of August, and use the half marathon as practice for the full. I'll be using a training plan from a Runner's World book called Run Less Run Faster. The plan calls for three days of running, two days of cross training and two days of rest. Over the next four weeks I'll try to shed between four and six pounds with cardio and strength training and also work on my flexibility with yoga. I'll post new pictures at the end of August so you all can see my progress. I'll also use the time to try to work out a decent diet. I'm such a junk food junkie that it's really hard for me to totally deny myself.
Hey, for anyone that remembers the Hydrox cookie, did you know that Hydrox came before Oreo, and at the end of August Kellog's will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Hydrox cookie by putting out a limited edition of them. Yep, check out their site
